Check out this old school hack on Redbull Borahansgrohe's bikes borrowed from the cyclocross world, the team mechanics have coated the sidewalls in liquid urethane. In cross races, this is done to prevent water ingress and rot. For Roubaix, we expect it's been done to provide a tiny bit of protection to the sidewalls and to help avoid any pressure loss!
